Brussels-Paris: Europe and the Arabs
The security authorities in several European capitals began preparations to face the events after the end of the France-Morocco match in the semi-finals of the World Cup currently being held in Qatar, in light of expectations of riots, whatever the outcome of the match.
Security forces were deployed in large numbers in important places and well-known squares in European capitals such as Paris, France, Brussels in Belgium, Madrid in Spain, London in the United Kingdom, etc. If Morocco wins, the sons of the Arab communities, especially Moroccans, will go out to celebrate the victory, and the matter may turn into clashes with the police, similar to what happened in the previous matches in A number of Belgian cities, especially Brussels and Antwerp, although there were attempts on the part of some associations and parents to calm the young men down to avoid recurrence of violence and riots.
And if France wins, some will come out to express their joy at the Moroccan team's achievement so far
The Belgian police began to strengthen their security presence in the center of Brussels and other cities, and prepared with water cannons, police dogs and tear gas.
As for the neighboring country, the French authorities announced taking strict measures against the backdrop of the World Cup football match between Morocco and France, as the police expect many spontaneous gatherings in Paris and major cities after the semi-finals.
Indeed, last Saturday, nearly 20,000 fans met spontaneously "without prior arrangement" on the Champs-Elysées at 7 pm, the French newspaper 20 Minute reported.
In order for the event to go off without any obstacles, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin announced, on Tuesday evening, before the National Assembly, the mobilization of 10,000 policemen and gendarmerie in France.
Drmanin said half of the workforce will be deployed in Ile-de-France, including 2,200 in Paris, mainly around the Champs-Elysees. Thus, the number of security forces in France has doubled compared to what it was on Saturday (5,000 policemen were mobilized, including 1,200 in Paris).
He added that a number of roads that may contribute to the arrival of masses and the occurrence of gatherings will be closed.
