The Prime Minister’s decision was issued on December 3, 2018 to transfer the Institute of African Research and Studies to the Faculty of Studies. In conjunction with Egypt's preparations to assume the presidency of the African Union, the Egyptian political leadership represented by His Excellency President Sisi believes in the importance of this ancient African scientific edifice to consolidate and improve Egyptian-African relations with soft powers and scientific research.

The college has also carried out many international and local activities, initiatives, conferences and seminars aimed at researching pressing African problems and issues and providing insights and solutions to them.
