
An Israeli professional soccer player in Greece sexually assaulted a Belgian schoolgirl during a school trip in Athens.

A minor Belgian girl was sexually assaulted by a professional Israeli soccer player in a Greek club in an Athens cafe, the Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad wrote, based on Greek media reports.
The news was confirmed by the Federal Public Service in the Foreign Ministry (FPS), which was informed by the embassy in Athens of the incident. According to the Belgian news agency, which added that after the incident, the Belgian embassy in Athens was contacted. The embassy provided consular assistance and close communication took place, but did not provide further information about the victim.
According to the Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, Greek police were called to a café in the Kolonaki neighborhood of Athens on Monday night. The girl in question, on a school trip in Athens, was in the café with her friends when the 33-year-old Israeli professional soccer player, who is a goalkeeper for the Greek side Volos, started flirting with her. She appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, and that's when the man tried to convince her to have sex with him. She refused, the newspaper wrote, after which he assaulted her.
Her friends informed the school trip supervisor and the police, who later arrested the man. At the police station, the girl was able to identify her attacker.
Volos FC immediately announced that the club had terminated the contract with the goalkeeper and a colleague who was present during the events.
