The United States of America called for an end to the fighting in Nyala, South Darfur, Sudan.
A statement on the official website of the US State Department stated that the United States calls on the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces to stop the renewed fighting in Nyala, South Darfur, and other populated areas, which have caused death and destruction. According to what was reported by the Middle East News Agency today, Friday
"We are particularly concerned by reports of indiscriminate shelling by both the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces, which has caused civilian casualties," the statement continued.
"Civilians must not pay the price for the warring parties' unreasonable actions. Both sides must comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law, including those relating to the protection of civilians," the State Department added.
"Every day this senseless conflict continues, more innocent civilians are killed and injured and left without homes, food or livelihoods. The parties must end the bloodshed. There is no acceptable military solution to this conflict," the statement continued.
