Despite the continuation of combat operations between Russia and Ukraine, and despite the failure to announce the crystallization of any project for peace and ending the war, according to statements issued in Brussels recently, the project was supposed to be discussed on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings, and despite all that, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that his country It will host an international conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine next year, following its meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York.
Schulz said - according to the France 24 news channel in its English-language bulletin on Thursday - that the conference will be held on June 11, 2024 in the German capital (Berlin).
The channel indicated that the conference aims to help Ukraine maintain its economy steadfast and also to rebuild its infrastructure in the long term.
It is noteworthy that last June, London hosted the last conference of this kind, which brought together leaders and representatives of more than 60 countries and financial institutions in order to provide funds to rebuild the country following the Russian military operation. According to what the Middle East News Agency reported. However, the question remains open: what is the point of raising funds and undertaking projects to reconstruct areas that may witness missile strikes at any time as long as the fighting continues? However, announcing the date of the conference in Berlin in June of next year may give a feeling of optimism about the possibility of ending the war before this date.
