European panic due to the dramatic escalation of violence in Sudan's Darfur...which is part of an ethnic cleansing campaign carried out by the Rapid Support Forces.

Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
The European Union is dismayed by and condemns the recent dramatic escalation of violence in Darfur. According to reliable eyewitness reports, more than a thousand members of the Masalit community were killed in Ardamta, West Darfur, in just over two days, during major attacks carried out by the Rapid Support Forces and affiliated militias. According to what was stated in a statement issued in Brussels by the office of the European Union Foreign and Security Policy Coordinator, Josep Borrell
The statement added, "These latest atrocities appear to be part of a broader ethnic cleansing campaign by the Rapid Support Forces aimed at eliminating the non-Arab Masalit community in West Darfur, and come on top of the first wave of major violence in June."
The European Union reminds the warring parties that under international law they have a duty to protect civilians in Darfur and throughout Sudan.
The European Union works with the International Criminal Court and other international partners to monitor and document human rights violations in order to ensure that perpetrators are held accountable and contribute to ending the culture of impunity in Sudan.
The international community cannot turn a blind eye to what is happening in Darfur and allow another genocide to occur in this region.
