NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is holding talks in Rome today with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, according to what was issued by NATO headquarters in Brussels. Pentagon Deputy Spokesperson Sabrina Singh confirmed, during a press conference, that “these maneuvers are part of the US Department of Defense’s large-scale comprehensive exercises in 2024.”
She indicated that the maneuvers began on Monday and will continue for two weeks.
More than 50 aircraft and 5,000 soldiers from the United States, Britain, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Estonia will participate.
The maneuvers aim to "strengthen joint air and missile defense" in the region.
