The Presidency of the European Union organized workshops and conferences on consular cooperation in crisis management

The current rotating presidency of the European Union, which Belgium holds, said that last week, over two days, it organized activities in which the directors of crisis centers affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the European Union countries and some like-minded countries participated. Representatives of the European Union institutions concerned with these issues were also in attendance. 
According to a statement distributed in Brussels last night, through this initiative, the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union wanted to establish more effective cooperation between different countries and a better understanding of their way of working.
The first day of the events was devoted to workshops on lessons learned from past crises, and conferences that allowed for joint reflection and discussion on consular cooperation in crises between EU countries and outside it. The workshops and conferences included short speeches delivered by many experts in the field of regional security.
On the second day, representatives of the relevant authorities participated, including the directors of crisis centers in the European Union foreign ministries and some like-minded countries, in addition to representatives of the European External Action Section (EEAS), the Commission and the Council of the European Union, and the large meeting witnessed the large-scale evacuation exercise Storm Tide 24, It was organized in cooperation with the Belgian Ministry of Defence. 
This participation comes within the activities of “Distinguished Visitors Day.” The aim of this exercise is to prepare the operational teams of the Belgian Army and Foreign Affairs of the FPS for evacuation operations in difficult circumstances, such as armed conflicts.
These two days combined discussions on important issues in the current context and practical exercises. They have registered themselves perfectly within the three main pillars of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU; It is protection, strength and preparation. The statement concluded by saying: “By bringing together its partners and participating in Storm Tide 24, the Belgian Presidency wants to improve the protection of all citizens, strengthen relations with European and international colleagues and prepare for scenarios where cooperation with these partners is necessary.”
