Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
The European Union strongly condemned the launch of ballistic missiles by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on July 1, which constitutes another violation of UN Security Council resolutions.
Through a statement issued in Brussels, the European Union reiterated its call on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to stop all illegal actions that threaten regional and international peace and security. “We urge the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to accept offers of dialogue from relevant parties and comply with its obligations under UN Security Council resolutions to give up its nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner.
We are also deeply concerned about the deepening cooperation between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Russia in flagrant violation of several United Nations Security Council resolutions. We reiterate our strong call on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Russia to stop illicit arms transfers.
The European statement concluded by saying, "The European Union is ready to work with all partners in promoting a meaningful diplomatic process aimed at the complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula."
