The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced today, Sunday, the death of a child due to the cold and lack of heating in the tents of the displaced in the middle of the Strip, which has been subjected to genocide for about 15 months, making him the fifth child to die due to the cold in less than a week.
The Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) quoted medical sources as saying that the deceased infant was one month old, noting that the condition of his twin had deteriorated due to the cold in a tent in Deir al-Balah in the middle of the Strip.
The sources indicated that "a few days ago, 4 newborn babies between the ages of 4 and 21 days were martyred due to low temperatures and severe cold."
This is the fifth child, as 4 Palestinian children have died in the past few days due to the severe cold, and doctors said that they froze to death while they were in the camps for the displaced.
The Gaza Ministry of Health said that Dr. Ahmed Al-Zaharna, who works as part of the medical staff at the "European Gaza Hospital" in Khan Yunis, died as a result of the severe cold. His body was found two days ago inside his tent in the Al-Mawasi area, south of the Strip. The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, confirmed yesterday, Saturday, that the children of Gaza are freezing to death due to the cold and lack of shelter. He explained in a tweet on the X platform that blankets and winter supplies have been stuck for months awaiting approval to enter Gaza. In the same context, 4 Palestinians were killed and others were injured today, Sunday, in the occupation's bombing of the Al-Sabra neighborhood south of Gaza City, Al-Nuseirat in the central Gaza Strip, and the northern sector of Rafah city, south of the Strip. The Palestinian News Agency "Wafa" reported that an Israeli drone bombed the Al-Sabra neighborhood south of Gaza City, which led to the death of a Palestinian citizen. The occupation also bombed the Al-Sawarha area in Al-Nuseirat in the central Gaza Strip; Which led to the martyrdom of a citizen and the injury of 4 others, and a Palestinian was injured as a result of the occupation forces' bombing of a house in the town of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, in conjunction with artillery shelling and gunfire east of the town of Khuza'a, and two citizens were martyred in the occupation forces' bombing of the northern sector of Rafah, south of Gaza. She added that the occupation artillery fired its shells and machine guns at the vicinity of the Al-Da'wa area, north of Al-Nuseirat, and the occupation military vehicles fired their machine guns at citizens north of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.
