West Bank: A soldier in the Palestinian security services was killed

In the occupied West Bank, a member of the Palestinian security services was killed in the village of Meithalun, north of the city of Jenin, after being accused by Israeli forces of belonging to militants.

The Israeli police said in a statement on its official account on the "X" platform that it carried out an operation to arrest Hassan Rabaya, an officer in the Preventive Security Service with the rank of first lieutenant, and described him as a "wanted militant."

It explained that he was killed in an exchange of fire while trying to escape, and a hunting rifle, parts of weapons, and about 26 thousand US dollars in cash were found in his home.

For its part, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that the number of child deaths in the Gaza Strip had risen to seven, as a result of the severe cold and lack of shelter. The agency explained in its statement that the deteriorating living conditions in the Strip, especially with the lack of shelter and health care, lead to tragic deaths among newborns, as 7,700 newborns lack basic life-saving medical care.

In the same context, the World Health Organization condemned the Israeli army's targeting of health infrastructure in Gaza, which led to Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip being completely out of service.

UNRWA stated that Israel carried out 50 attacks on the hospital and surrounding areas since October 2024, exacerbating the health crisis and disrupting medical services for civilians.
