
NATO's highest military authority meets in Brussels to discuss ongoing NATO-led missions and activities and developments in the war in Ukraine.

The Military Committee, NATO's highest military authority, is meeting at the level of Chiefs of Defense Staff. According to a statement issued by NATO Headquarters in Brussels, the meeting will be held next week, on May 14, in the presence of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The Chairman of the Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, will chair the meeting, with the participation of 32 Allied nations, along with the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT).
According to the NATO statement, during the first session, the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) will brief the Chiefs of Defense Staff on NATO's ongoing efforts to strengthen its collective deterrence and defensive posture. The Alliance's Chiefs of Defense Staff will also exchange views on ongoing NATO-led missions and activities, and NATO's Security Assistance and Training Program for Ukraine (NSATU). In the second session, SACT will provide an update on NATO's defense planning process, innovation opportunities, and related challenges.
The final session, facilitated by the NATO-Ukraine Council, will discuss Russia's continued war of aggression against Ukraine, the situation on the ground, and ongoing NATO and Allied support for Ukraine.
