Abu Kabir Sharqiya: Europe and the Arabs
Egyptian youth team star Mohamed Samir and his teammates helped bring joy to the Egyptian fans after qualifying for the World Cup finals in Chile. This came after defeating Ghana on penalties in the match held Monday evening as part of the African Championship currently being held in Egypt.
The match almost ended in extra time with a rocket goal by Mohamed Samir, but the linesman flagged offside early in the play.
Mohamed Samir, son of Abu Kabir in Sharqiya Governorate, plays for the Enppi team. Although he doesn't play for any of the major clubs like Al-Ahly, Zamalek, or others, he has managed to maintain his place in the Egyptian youth team, and before that, in the junior team. Mohamed Samir has earned the trust of coaches throughout his time with the Egyptian national teams.
After the match against Ghana ended, joy filled Egyptian homes, especially in Sharqiya Governorate, specifically in the city of Abu Kabir, where Mohamed Samir's family lives. His father, known as Samir Al-Banna, is known for his good reputation. He received congratulations from everyone, whether by phone or in person. Through social media, family, relatives, and neighbors rejoiced after their son qualified for the World Cup.
The Egyptian youth team has participated in the World Cup eight times before, the first in 1981 and the last in 2013.
The Pharaohs' most notable achievement remains winning the bronze medal at the 2001 World Cup in Argentina, led by Shawky Gharib.
