Selfie on Train Roof: Man Severely Burned After Electrocution

Berlin - Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
German police reported that a man suffered severe burns on Sunday from a severe electric shock after climbing onto a stopped train at Cologne Central Station to take a selfie. According to media in neighboring Belgium, citing the Belgian news agency on Monday, the man came too close to a high-voltage power line. Even without direct contact, an arc occurred with an electric current about 65 times greater than that of a normal electrical outlet.
The man fell from the train and was taken to the hospital with severe burns. A police spokeswoman stated that the incident caused significant disruption to rail traffic, affecting 24 trains. Police are searching for witnesses to the incident.
