Statement of Support for the Demonstration Against Executions and in Solidarity with the Iranian People's Resistance for Freedom
We, the undersigned, declare our support for the major demonstration by Iranians on September 6, 2025, in Brussels, against the regime's brutal killing of innocent civilians. Executions, and in favor of the third solution: no compromise, no foreign war, but change by the people and their organized resistance for freedom. This demonstration echoes the voice of the Iranian people for freedom.
Since Masoud Pezeshkian assumed power in late July 2024, 1,560 executions have been carried out in Iran. Recently, as part of the ongoing wave of executions, the ruling religious dictatorship in Iran executed Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani on charges of moharebeh (enmity against God) and membership in the khalq's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). At least 14 other prisoners are facing execution on the same charge, in addition to a larger number facing the death penalty on other flimsy grounds.
On July 8, the official Fars News Agency described in an editorial the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988 as a "positive experience that must be repeated." Meanwhile, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran recognized this massacre in his 2024 report as a crime against humanity and genocide. Collective.
The Iranian people, through their demonstrations, have categorically rejected all forms of dictatorship, whether the Shah's monarchy or the religious dictatorship of the mullahs. We, along with more than 4,000 parliamentarians and 130 former senior officials from various countries, affirm our solidarity with the Iranian people's demands for freedom of expression, gender equality, separation of religion and state, abolition of the death penalty, and peaceful coexistence with the world. These demands are included in the ten-point program of the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi.
The Iranian people have struggled for decades for freedom, and the democratic opposition, the khalq's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, has been at the heart of this struggle and plays a pivotal role in it.
We demand the condemnation of the gross violations of human rights in Iran, an immediate halt to executions, the designation of the Revolutionary Guards as a banned organization, an end to the policy of appeasement with the mullahs' regime, and the recognition of the Iranian people's legitimate right to resistance to overthrow the dictatorship and establish a democratic government. A democratic republic.
The statement included the names of the political, parliamentary, trade union, and human rights figures who signed the joint statement.
