A prison sentence was handed down to the man involved in the attack on the property of the mosque and Islamic center in the Dutch city of Arnhem.

Arnhem, Netherlands: Noureddine Amrani

During a chaotic hearing, the man was seen rummaging through a black bag on the table. When the judge asked him what he was doing, he replied that he wanted to record the proceedings with his phone, but that this was not permitted, as the court prohibits recordings.

The man in court is accused of desecrating a mosque in Arnhem, the city of which is headed by the Dutch mayor of Moroccan origin, Ahmed Marcouch.

The man continued to use various voices to confuse the judge, repeatedly interrupting the presiding judge and the prosecutor during the proceedings. In a loud and sharp voice, he declared, "My father didn't do anything!" The judge responded, "Let me finish, sir." The Arnhem resident had drawn a swastika, the symbol of Nazi Germany, near a mosque. The court sentenced him to five weeks in prison. However, the defendant resorted to profanity and insults during the hearing, raising his middle finger—an immoral and unacceptable gesture both inside and outside the courtroom. This act was committed by a man in his forties accused of stealing mosque property, violating the sanctity of an Islamic center in the city, and disregarding a restraining order that he allegedly breached last February.

Karic Kadrić, a former member of the Bosnian mosque's board of directors at the time of the incident, said that the vandalism and the swastika caused "a lot of real tension." He added, "We were scared because we didn't know who did it or why. The police helped us and patrolled more, which gave us some reassurance."

We hope the suspect receives the help he needs!

According to the court, the thrown bottle was made of plastic, which is more dangerous, flammable, and capable of causing more damage.

The Minor Criminal Court found the suspect guilty on all charges and sentenced him to three weeks in prison. He is also prohibited from being present in or approaching the streets surrounding the mosque for three years. If he violates this court order, he will have to return to prison for one week for each subsequent violation.

In addition, he received an extra two weeks in prison because he committed this new offense while on probation for a previous crime.
