Extension of European sanctions for one year against ISIS, Al-Qaeda and people and entities associated with them

Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
The Council of the European Union today adopted a resolution prolonging the restrictive measures against ISIS, Al-Qaeda and their associated persons, groups, projects and entities for another year, until 31 October 2023.
Currently, the sanctions regime in force applies to 13 individuals and 4 groups. The targets are subject to an asset freeze and EU travel ban. In addition, persons and entities in the European Union are prohibited from making funds available to those on the list.
These independent restrictive measures are complementary to those imposed by the United Nations Security Council against ISIS/ISIS and al-Qaeda.
According to a European statement issued in Brussels on Monday, the European Union remains committed to acting against those who constantly threaten international peace and security by planning, financing and carrying out terrorist attacks, as well as spreading murderous terrorist propaganda around the world.
