UN mission follows with concern the recent troop movements in Libya and calls for restraint

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) stated that it is following with concern the recent movements of forces across Libya - especially in the southern and western regions - and at the same time commends the ongoing efforts to calm the situation and prevent further tension.
The mission urged in a statement all parties to exercise maximum restraint and avoid any provocative actions that would destabilize the fragile stability in Libya and the safety of citizens. According to the UN daily news bulletin, a copy of which we received
The mission called for continued communication and coordination between the forces affiliated with the Libyan National Army and the Government of National Unity.
The mission explained that it regrets that these developments coincide with the eighty-fourth anniversary of the founding of the Libyan army, and reminds us of the state of division that this vital institution suffers from.
The mission said that the mission seizes this occasion to remind all actors in Libya of the importance of having unified, professional and responsible military and security institutions. It renewed its readiness to facilitate achieving this goal through dialogue and providing the necessary support and expertise.
