Brussels: Georgia is at a crossroads and must remain on the right track on the road to Europe.

Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
A European statement was issued in Brussels regarding the situation in Georgia. The statement issued by the President of the Commission, Urula von der Leyen, and also published by the European External Action Department, stated: “I am following the situation in Georgia with great concern and condemn the acts of violence in the streets of Tbilisi. The citizens of Georgia are demonstrating their strong adherence to democracy.” The Georgian government must heed this clear message.
The European Union has also clearly expressed its concerns about the Foreign Influence Law. The Georgian people want a European future for their country.
In recognition of these aspirations, in December the European Council granted Georgia candidate status and set a clear path to opening accession negotiations. We expect the Georgian government to take swift action on the measures it has committed to taking as a candidate state. Georgia is at a crossroads. It should stay on track on the road to Europe.
