Brussels: Transfer of Iranian-made ballistic missiles to Russia is a direct threat to European security and we will respond with new sanctions

Brussels: Europe and the Arabs
A European statement issued in Brussels said that the European Union strongly condemns the transfer of Iranian-made ballistic missiles to Russia. The statement issued by the office of Josep Borrell, the European Union's foreign and security policy coordinator, added that this transfer poses a direct threat to European security and represents a material escalation by providing Iranian drones and ammunition, which Russia has used in its illegal war of aggression against Ukraine.
This comes amid the latest Russian attacks against Ukraine, including with ballistic missiles and drones, which demonstrate its clear determination to continue its brutal war of aggression against Ukraine and its people, especially targeting vital energy infrastructure, and trying to cause the greatest possible loss of civilian life and widespread destruction. Iranian ballistic missiles can now be used to cause more suffering and destruction in Ukraine.
The European Union's position on Iran's involvement in Russia's war has always been clear. The European Union has repeatedly warned Iran against transferring ballistic missiles to Russia.
The EU will respond quickly and in coordination with international partners, including by taking new and significant restrictive measures against Iran, including designating individuals and entities involved in Iran’s ballistic missile and drone programmes, and in this regard is considering restrictive measures in Iran’s aviation sector as well.
