On the 456th day of the Israeli war on Gaza, airstrikes continued on the cities of Khan Yunis and Gaza, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries. The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that the Israeli bombing that continued over the past 24 hours led to the killing of 77 Palestinians and the injury of 145 others, some of whom are in critical condition.
At dawn on Saturday, artillery shelling resumed on the Al-Nazla area west of Jabalia and Deir al-Balah, while Israeli naval boats targeted the beach in the central governorate.
Politically, members of the Israeli Knesset called for the displacement of residents of northern Gaza, while indirect negotiations in Doha are still ongoing, with Hamas stressing the need for a complete ceasefire and the occupation’s withdrawal from the Strip, at a time when Israeli officials indicated the slow progress of the talks.
In another development, Israeli media reported that Tel Aviv is considering reducing humanitarian aid to Gaza with the assumption of office by US President-elect Donald Trump, which would exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in the Strip.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced: The death toll from the war has risen to 45,717 dead and 108,856 injured since October 7, 2023, according to what was published by the Euronews news website in Brussels.
On the other hand, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced that time is running out as a possible ban is approaching that could prevent it from providing its basic services to millions of Palestinian refugees in various areas. The agency said in a statement that this ban, which is expected to be imposed by the Israeli authorities, threatens its existence and hinders its ability to provide humanitarian, educational and health assistance to refugees who rely heavily on its services.
UNRWA added that the United Nations does not intend to replace the agency if the ban is imposed, which increases concerns about the fate of thousands of Palestinian refugees who have relied on these services for decades. In this context, the agency called on the Israeli Knesset to reverse its decision to impose the ban, noting that any step in this direction would have serious humanitarian repercussions.
