European Diversity Month Launched in Brussels: Winners Announced for the Fourth Edition of the European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity Award

The European Union institutions in Brussels announced that the winners of the fourth "European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity" award will be revealed during the launch ceremony for European Diversity Month 2025. The event will take place in Brussels on Tuesday, April 29, at noon. The event will explore places that are pioneers of inclusion in Europe, and how diversity and inclusion can be harnessed to promote mental health and well-being in the workplace. A number of economic, media, and political figures, as well as representatives of associations and civil society organizations, will participate in the celebration. Several speakers will include Haja Lahbib, Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness, and Crisis Management, and a video message from Dan Jørgensen, Commissioner for Energy and Housing. In the evening, electronic voting will open for the winner by public vote, followed by a speech and announcement by Irina Mozova, Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumer Affairs.

The federal institutions in Brussels called on companies and organizations across Europe to collaborate with the European Commission to highlight the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and society by organizing events and activities throughout the month of May.
Equality and diversity are top priorities for the European Commission. To combat discrimination and promote more equal societies, the Commission has adopted a proactive approach, including specific action plans and measures.
A European statement said that as part of its ongoing efforts to fulfill its commitment to promoting more inclusive and fair societies in Europe, the European Commission is organizing the "European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity" award for the fourth time. This initiative complements the annual European Diversity Month, which contributes to raising awareness of the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and our societies.
The European Diversity Charters help public and private sector organizations across the European Union design and implement effective diversity and inclusion policies. By signing the Charter, organizations publicly commit to promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The Charters are organized at the national level, with each country having its own charter.
